Inauguration in Moknine of the training center and incubator for micro-enterprises in aluminum joinery
Mr. Mondher Sik Ali, the Governor of Monastir, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the new training center and incubator for micro-enterprises in aluminum joinery, Alluco Academy, on Friday, May 26, 2023, in Moknine.
This center is the result of a partnership between the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Tunisian company Alluco, specialized in the production of customized and varied aluminum profiles, in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training as well as the structures under its supervision.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Mrs. Elisabeth Richter, Head of the develoPPP for Jobs program at the GIZ headquarters in Germany, as well as representatives from the partner private company and central and regional bodies of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, along with the structures under its supervision.
A total joint budget of nearly €938,000 has been allocated for this project, with more than 51% of private sector participation. The project will fully train 180 young Tunisians, of whom 75 will receive technical and financial support to establish their own aluminum joinery businesses.
To ensure better scalability and sustainability of these results, the project signed an agreement with the ATFP to support 5 public training centers of the ATFP, providing the same opportunities to as many young people as possible across all regions of the country. This support includes training ATFP trainers in certain new techniques and trends in the field, as well as providing modern didactic equipment, software adapted to the trade, and raw materials for practical work. The first cycle of trainer training was completed in May 2023 and reached 24 trainers (both male and female) from 7 ATFP training centers.
Close cooperation with the National Agency for Employment and Self-Employment (ANETI) is also planned within the framework of the project, focusing on the selection of training candidates and support for the creation of micro-projects.
Communication activities are also planned to restore the attractiveness of the aluminum joinery profession among young people and encourage them to join public vocational training centers dedicated to this field.
This project was selected following an international ideas competition organized by the develoPPP program, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)) and implemented by GIZ.
It is supported by the BMZ's special initiative "Decent Jobs for a Just Transition in Africa."
